Birthday Party Fun - Take 5!

Well, this is it folks.  The last birthday part post . . . for two weeks and then we've got two more to go to.  I swear, Olivia has quite the social life.  This party was for Olivia's sweet friend, Sam, who turned one earlier this month.  You might notice that Olivia is wearing an outfit very similar to the one she wore to the first birthday party we went to.  What can I say?  The kid likes comfort, and pink!  Yet again, it was just me and Olivia so cell phone pictures only.

Olivia was one of the first kids there so she decided to check out some of Sam's toys with Baby Weston, whose party we went to the weekend before!

Inside play didn't last long before Olivia and all the other kids who had arrived headed outside.  As you can see, she's wearing shorts and a t-shirt because it was almost 80 degrees outside! In February.  Side note: There were around 6 balls for 10 kids to play with and I'll take a second to brag that Olivia was very good at sharing!

Quick break to eat...

...and then right back to playing!  Olivia didn't actually manage to get any bubbles out of the bubble wand but she had a good time running through the yard trying!

Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Saaaam! Happy birthday to you!

We all know what the birthday song mean - CAKE!

But who needs a fork when you can pick all the icing off with your fingers?

Timing didn't allow for a nap before the party but she sure was tuckered out when we got home.  And look who it is?!  Mr. Rabby!

Happy birthday Sam!!

Birthday Party Fun - Take 3 . . . and 4!

Let the birthday party fun continue, folks.  This weekend we had two parties to go to on Saturday, one for Westin and one for Weston - try explaining that to a two year old!

The first party was at Safari Champ where the kids climb up things and slide down slides and just generally run around and act like animals . . . .see what I did there? ;-)  Mike has taken Olivia there before but it was during the week when school was in session so there was virtually no one there.  Not the case on a Saturday afternoon but Olivia handled herself really well amongst all the not-so-well behaved kids who choose not to take turns.  It was go go go from the minute we got in there so it was really tough to pin her down for a picture.  Again, so sorry for the picture quality as these were all taken on my phone.  We've got two little cameras in the house neither of which work and I'm too scared to take Mike's nice camera out by myself for fear of hurting it.

You have 2.5 seconds to take this picture before I take off, Mom.

Getting all tangled up

What an angelic face

Funny how the only smile I got coincided with cupcake time

After Westin's party, we headed home and Olivia took a very short nap.  I was dreading having to go in and wake her up because she's usually pretty cranky when you get her up before she's ready but she saved me that trouble and woke up on her own . . . and had a sleepy-girl tantrum.  She couldn't really tell me what was wrong and didn't even notice when I left the room to get ready but eventually she calmed down and perked up when I reminded her we were going to another birthday party.  Weston's birthday party was at Gymboree, which was really fun.  You can rent the place out on the weekends for birthday parties so it was just our group in there and all the kids had a lot of fun playing around and during the instructor-led activities.

Olivia and her little buddy, Sam.  I love this picture!

This is the beginning of the instructor-led bit and Olivia is waiting to bang on the drum that Miss Laura brought around

Olivia and Sonnie.  So many possible captions here that I couldn't choose just one.

Snack time!!  She only ate half her little sandwich but had three helpings of grapes and was able to save some room for a few bites of banana split - no shock there!

There's the sweet birthday boy giving his Daddy a bite of birthday cake.

Happy birthday Westin and Weston!!

Birthday Party Fun - Take 2!

Olivia and I went to another birthday party this weekend, this time at . . . wait for it . . . Chuck E Cheese!  For various reasons (including germs, badly behaved kids, and noise) we have avoided Chuck E Cheese thus far but we couldn't miss Makenzie and Parker's birthday party so off we went.  It was just me and Olivia because Mike had to work - lucky guy.  Again, all of these pictures were taken with my phone.

Looking cute and ready to go to the party!

When we walked in the door Olivia's eyes lit up and she said "WHOA!".  It was pretty funny actually.  We made our way to the back where the birthday tables are, collected our tokens from the birthday girls' mom and off we went into the depths of Chuck E Cheese.   Now I'll pause there to say that it was as loud as I remembered and there were badly behaved children like I remembered but it wasn't as dark as I thought it was going to be, which provided a little bit of relief.

Olivia's very first "ride"

Olivia's very first game at Chuck E Cheese.  Sorry about the picture quality but the huge grin on her face is just classic

Having pizza with my buddy Hayden

Mmmmmm, cupcakes!

Frosting! Double mmmm!

And then there was ice cream :-) Thankfully she was so distracted she only ate the icing off her cupcake and 2 bites of ice cream, which was enough to put her into crazy super baby mode.  Meh, it was a birthday party!

Olivia had a great time which was worth suffering through Chuck E Cheese.  Visiting places like that make me so proud of my sweet, well behaved little girl.

Birthday Party Fun!

Last weekend we went a friend's house to celebrate the birthdays of her daughter and another friend's son.  We caught up with some friends we hadn't seen in a while and overall had a great time!  We didn't take a camera so all of the pictures I have are from my phone.

Olivia LOVES trampolines.  The only time she got off of it was to eat a cupcake and watch the present opening process.  Towards the end some of the bigger kids got a little rowdy and she got bounced higher than she wanted and that was the end of trampoline fun for the day.

Watch me bounce!

Jellybean the Clown arrived and the face painting began.  You know you've got a good clown on your hands when she can paint a 2.5 year old's face in two minutes flat!  Olivia chose a rainbow butterfly.

After face painting came balloon animals.  Jellybean made Olivia a butterfly backpack to go with her rainbow butterfly face.

Somehow we got all the kids to sit still for a picture.  This isn't a great shot but the birthday boy and girl are on the bottom row on the left and center.

Cupcake time!

When it was time to open presents one blanket was put down for the birthday kids and another was put down to set a boundary for all of the other kids who wanted to pounce on the presents.  Olivia sat herself down on that little chair and just watched as Tennyson and Jordan opened presents and all the other kids bounced around on their boundary blanket.  She's so content being out of the craziness.

Overall - great birthday party!  For anyone who is wondering the face paint did come off...for the most part.  We washed her face right when we got home and again at bath time.  When I dropped her off at school on Monday I went ahead and let Olivia's teacher know about the face paint rather that let her think that my toddler wears eye shadow :-)
