Sick baby - part 2

Well, I guess I blogged too soon because the cold that Olivia has far outlasted my first blog post.  I think that sweet Olivia is finally on the upswing (fingers crossed) so I hope this follow up doesn't jinx anything!

Tuesday morning - not feeling good baby

Tuesday - Olivia wouldn't eat much besides these potato sticks.  Look at that little cold-y face!

Tuesday - she did chew on this carrot for a while but I figured out soon after this picture that she was just biting off pieces and spitting them out.

Wednesday - feeling a little better.  Olivia does not get to eat her meals in this chair but Mike turned around and there she was with her waffle.  It was the first meal she'd had any interest in for several days so he let it slide.

Wednesday - saying hi to Mommy who is at work.  Still a little puffy-faced from the cold.

Thursday - definitely on the mend and helping daddy clean the bathroom.  Look at that Buda belly!

Thursday - even had some energy to try and sneak a picture off the hall table.

Today - definitely feeling better and the appetite is back!  Breakfast: 2 waffles and a handful of blueberries.  Lunch:  5 meatballs, a handful of blueberries, and some V8.  Snacks:  2 pretzel sticks and some chex mix.  Dinner: almost non-existent but I can't imagine she had any room left!  She ate more today than she has in the last 3 days combined.

We went outside to play this afternoon for several reasons: 1. Mommy needed a break from work  2. Olivia was feeling better and needed some fresh air and  3. It was almost 80 degrees here . . . in January.

This picture was taken shortly after we forced Olivia's cough medicine down her throat, hopefully for the last time for a while.  It takes 2 people and several minutes to get it in her mouth in small enough amounts that she won't spit it out or choke on it.  A trick we learned - to prevent baby from keeping medicine under tongue, give baby paci.  Baby quickly swallows medicine to put paci in mouth at which point evil parents take paci away to put more medicine in baby's mouth.  Repeat.

I think we are on the tail end of Olivia's first big bad cold.  She still has a cough, which is breaking up, but I'm hoping that she will wake up tomorrow and that will have subsided as well.  Let's just hope I didn't jinx myself posting this blog.  A short video from playtime outside to leave you with.  Please excuse her outfit, we did not go out in public today.

Sick baby

Olivia is a very healthy little girl which I attribute to her healthy diet, active lifestyle and the fact that she doesn't currently go to daycare.  That being said, we can't shield her from society and she has picked up a nasty little cold.  She's got every symptom in the book - stuffy nose, runny nose, cough, watery eyes, low grade fever, so you can imagine that she's not a very happy little mouse right now.  I'm hoping that today was the worst of it because she was a tough cookie to handle today plus I just don't want her to feel crappy anymore.
This picture is from yesterday morning - not feeling 100% but looking 1000% cute!

This is no longer the toy basket, it is now the official sick baby spot

Olivia was feeling super crappy this morning.  She has never sat down and watched a movie before, we just think there are better things for her to do and she doesn't really need to sit in front of the TV for that long.  Well I decided that for "sick day" we could make an exception and watch a movie together on the couch so I found a 60 minute Strawberry Shortcake movie on Netflix.  She made it about 20 minutes (which is about how long an episode of Fresh Beat Band is) and then she was done watching.

My sweet little girl was very trying today.  She felt bad and was whiny and wouldn't even try to tell me what she wanted and wouldn't eat.  Man I love her but holy cow am I emotionally drained!  So after a diaper change she REFUSED to put her pants back on and then DEMANDED to put her jester hat on.  Here she is pantless and eating a string cheese -  a small victory because she ate very little today.  She wore that hat to bed tonight, I was too tired to argue :-)

Feel better sweet girl!

Family Dinner

We are so very lucky that my parents and sister live close to us.  I love knowing that if I need my parents they are only an hour away or that Nina could leave her house and be at ours in 30 minutes.  I'm happy that Olivia gets to spend time with her Granny, Paw Paw, Auntie Nina.  Now if we could just work on Nana, Papa, Tia Karen, and Tio Matt . . . Anyway, we had my parents and Nina over for dinner on Sunday.  There wasn't any special occasion, Mike was off and Mom was staying with us because she was working up in Round Rock and then Dad and Nina came over for the afternoon/evening.  We had a wonderful time watching football, having dinner, and just spending time as a family.

Mike and I are on a gluten/dairy free, mostly Paleo diet and he found a great recipe for a tasty appetizer.  They were bacon-wrapped peaches with basil, and man were they yummy!  Difficult to execute but they were delicious and it all goes to the same place, right?

Look at all my toys, guys!

Olivia likes eating whole apples these days.  It takes her a while and she doesn't usually eat it all in one sitting but she sure does like her apples.  So that's what's in her hand as she watches some football with Granny and Aunt Nina.

My wonderful family

After everyone went home it was bath time.  That night we decided to have our milk BEFORE putting on our jammies . . .

 . . . yeah, what of it?!

We love you Soileaus!
