9 months

Well, our sweet Olivia mouse turned 9 months old earlier this week.  Let me say it again . . . where has the time gone?!  I missed the 8 month update because school had just started and by the time I thought about starting the blog post it was almost her 9 month birthday so I said eh, skip it.  A LOT has gone on in the last couple of months so let's get to the updates . . .

  • Olivia is up to 19lbs 13oz
  • She's going to be tall like her Daddy - already 28 1/2 inches long
  • That puts her in the 70th percentile for her weight and head circumference and 80th for her height
  • Her hair is slowly coming in but it's still not long enough for cute hair barretts - grrrr
  • Doesn't stop her from putting huge headbands on me!
  • Eyes are settling in somewhere between hazel and blue.  They seem to change colors depending on what she wears similar to mine
  • Olivia is still in a size 3 diaper
  • Really Mommy?
  • She still drinks ~20oz of soy formula a day in an early morning, afternoon, and bedtime bottle.  God forbid you don't get her bottle to her in time!  She will sit on the floor and wail and crocodile tears will pour down her face.  Dr. Thorstad reiterated that the bottle needed to be gone by 12 months . . . I've decided I'll be out of town that week, hee hee.
  • Olivia can hold her own bottle now which is a new development
  • Miss priss crossing her ankles
  • Food is a major part of our day and Olivia has 3 square meals a day plus snacks
  • After a breakfast of blueberries
  • Meals consist of fruits (blueberries, apples, pears, mangos), veggies (broccoli, spinach, green beans, peas, carrots, onions, sweet potato . . . ) and meats (beef, chicken, and fish).  We have started blending up whatever we're eating and giving it to Olivia so recently she has had homemade spahgetti and pot roast which she LOVED.
  • Snacks are different finger foods mostly by Gerber.  Little puffs that she can pick up with her fingers, mum mums, and more recently eggs and potatoes.  I am trying to introduce new things to her but am always terrified that she is going to choke so I make sure that everything is super tiny.
  • Mmmmmm, puffs!
    Double mmmmm, egg and potato!
  • We do have clear favorites though - pot roast, any kind of green vegetable and blueberries
  • She's turned her nose up at any cereal and isn't a huge fan of fruit right now, go figure
  • All meals are eaten in her big girl high chair.  The Bumbo has officially been retired
  • Last documented Bumbo siting dated 5/5/11.  Even Olivia looks sad to see it go.
  • She STILL only has her 2 bottom teeth.  As of a couple of days ago, we can feel the top right one coming in . . . finally!
  • See my little teefers?
  • Olivia is very good at drinking from her sippy cups now, both the regular one and the one with the straw.  It's a good thing because "milk" is going to start showing up in those cups soon.
  • Yeah, I know my sippy is upside down.  What of it?
  • You can always tell when Olivia is done with her sippy because she "drops" it on the floor
  • Drum roll please . . . we have a crawler!!  It's a strange looking crawl but don't let it fool you, she is quick!  She pulls herself along with her arms and pushes with her right leg while dragging her left :-)  Sometimes she gets up on her hands and knees and looks like she's going to crawl "normally" but then she flops down onto her tummy and army crawls.  She is officially all over the place.
  • She can also pull herself up.  She's most consistant when you're sitting on the floor and she can pull herself up by your clothes but she's getting better at using the couch as well.
  • Get me outta here!
  • The kid is all over the place all the time.  She's just like her Daddy, doesn't sit still for long.
  • Maybe if I hide under here she won't notice that I am making a beeline for the cat's bowls.
  • Olivia has mastered object permience and when she drops something or we take something away from her she looks for it.
  • Speaking of taking something away from her . . . proceed with caution.  Miss thing has developed QUITE the attitude.
  • Duh!
  • We have a big basket that we keep Olivia's toys in and we'll put it in front of her and she'll take them out one at a time.  There aren't a lot of clear favorites at the moment but she does like her shape blocks.
  • Lucky baby with all of her toys
  • Mr. Rabby(s) - yes we have 2, are ever present in Olivia's life.  She loves him and loves to "share" him with you and asks you to sniff him.  My child is weird.
  • There are no words
  • In addition to a Mr. Rabby, Olivia sleeps with a musical seahorse and at least 3 pacis
  • Snuggling with seahorse, Mr. Rabby is close by and there are 2 pacis in her crib and most likely 1 in her mouth
  • She is napping MUCH better these days.  We usually get 2 solid naps that are anywhere from 1 - 2 hours!  The morning nap is much more consistant than the afternoon nap.
  • Snoozing in the carseat
  • Nighttime sleep is better as well. She goes to bed at 7:30pm and doesn't wake up until 5:00 - 6:00am.  She is currently still taking a bottle when she wakes up that early but we are in the process of phasing it out - gulp.
  • Bathtime is still a great time of day and we have a big girl tub now.
  • Big girl tub!
  • Olivia talks/screams all the time.  She definitely has the gift of gab, got that one from me.  She will repeat Dada and she says "whoa" a lot.  She can now recognize voices as well.
  • She will clap and is kind of waving to people.  We are still working on the wave.
  • Social anxiety is out the window, she loves everyone who has Mr. Rabby or will give her a puff.
  • I love sitting with Montana!
  • Still hates having her clothes changed.
  • Still loves her fuzzy sisters but they are getting a little tired of moving all the time now that Olivia is mobile.  I did catch her giving Bella a "kiss" today, no wonder she's always coughing on cat hair.
  • In addition to the Graco and jogging strollers, we have a little umbrella stroller that we use for quick trips.
This hat stayed on ~17 seconds after I took this picture

Evolution of the bath tub

Olivia was less than an hour old when she had her first bath.  Clearly she did not have a great time.

Her first bathtub was a soft Puj tub that folded up and went into the bathroom sink

Then we moved to the kitchen sink in the infant tub with the newborn sling.

Eventually we ditched the newborn sling but we're still in the kitchen sink here.

After a while, we had to move to the bathroom because Miss Olivia was splashing so much in the kitchen sink.

And now introducing . . . .

Big girl tub!!!

Mother's Day

I was so excited to celebrate my first Mother's Day last weekend.  Mike was sweet enough to recognize Mother's Day last year because I was pregnant but it was so much more special this year.  We had a fabulous day hanging out with our friends by the pool and then a great dinner at The Compound with my parents, my sister, and her new boyfriend.  Mike worked on Saturday night so Olivia and I had some quality time on Sunday morning while he slept in.  When Mike got up, I got a beautiful watch and necklace from him and Olivia for Mother's Day.  Love them!  I neglected to take a picture of the gifts but I got some great shots of the rest of the day.

Lunch time for me and my friend Mazzy.  Oh look, there is Mommy's new necklace!

Angie made banana, honey, peanut butter french toast and it was every bit as good as it sounds.

Miles is keeping a close eye on that french toast!

This is my new bathing suit that Tonya's Mom gave me.  Aren't I cute?

This is my first time in a swimming pool.  At first, I held onto Daddy for dear life . . .

 . . . but after a while I was a swimming fool!

Miles is in the fun pool, that's a slide on the right side!  Soon I can hang out in there too.

Here's the crew - minus Olivia and Mike who are in the pool.

Angie and Miles.  He is such a ham!

Mazzy was very relaxed during her first swim but can you blame her?  She looks pretty comfy :-)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
